Knafeh and Arabic coffee make a nice reward at the end of a long walk.
My daughter’s “Dubai Strawberry Cup” looked like an overload of chocolates, pistachios, and fresh fruit.

The dog is walked, lemon polenta cake is cooling in the window, mug of coffee in hand, surreal kafkaesque book in my ears.
Sunday morning as it should be.

2/3 of America's dairy cows are on "mega farms" with >1000 cows ... is she suggesting that folks visit factory farms and look the robot milking machines in their Hal9000/SkyNet red eye to determine whether the content of their character somehow equates to "clean" raw milk?

Finished the excellent historical art-crime, Persectives by Laurent Binet over the weekend and started Greek Lessons by Han Kang.

Heard a NYTimes piece about the completed 9-hour Prince biography that was permanently shelved after the estate changed hands.
Inspired to start the day with Ƭ̵̬̊ - purple glitter songs stirred into my coffee.

There is a statue in Venice known colloquially as El Caga Libri, "The Book Shitter".
No idea whether the sculptor was commenting on the quality of Tommaseo's writing.

You know it’s spring in Scandinavia when the fastelavns-boller arrive.
Soft cardamom rolls filled with cream and jam and dusted in sugar, a last hurrah of excess before the fasting of lent.
The sweet indulgence remains even if the sacrifice has not.

The energy I bring to Blue Sky

Went to Litteraturhuset last night to hear Elif Shafak talk about her latest novel, There are Rivers in the Sky.
Full house, good crowd, thoughtful conversation in a cosy venue by the palace.

Yesterday I made a piccata w/ lemons & capers & garlic & shallot, oh my!
Then, late at night, I dreamed that I was in a bombed and occupied city.
We, the resistance, would identify ourselves by holding half a lemon up and lightly squeezing it.
Subtle.
The rebel flag was a half lemon a blue field.
