Alan Turing joined the city’s computing pioneers in 1948, prophesied AI & created the Turing Test. Prosecuted in 1952 for being gay, he died on this day in 1954. Statue: Sackville Gardens.

Tony officially opened the doors to our museum in 2009. Even after he stepped down as our MP, he continued to be very supportive of our work and would visit us regularly. "I'm just stopping for an hour..." Three hours later, he'd still be chatting away to visitors and volunteers.
