Nice pictures, but (apart from the Oxlips which were in a wood) I can't imagine seeing those others in the wild. Too cultivated! Roses for example, as nature intended them, look more like this 👇

I actually do know a wood with oxlips in it. They're quite rare these days. Sort of like a cross between a cowslip and a primrose.

It probably also has all those other things but we have exceeded my wild flower knowledge at this point :)

You missed out on a special treat yesterday. The Telegraph prize puzzle was set by GCHQ with lots of spy and crypto themes and a very clever final clue in the middle of the grid. Apparently I might win a guided tour of Bletchley.

None of those can make a square of 5 that works vertically as well. It turns out there aren't any in English (whether they mean anything or not). There are a few senseless ones (below) if you relax the rules and allow the first two words to be individual palindromes. I was using the insanely...

People were also talking about Klemperer's birthday recently so I ended up trying this other version. Interesting, and highly regarded, although I still prefer the Betty Blackhead one.

It turns out you are absolutely right. I have checked on the computer. SS and LL are the most common, followed by LL and OO. What's 22 doing at the bottom? The word Catch-22 is in my word-list :)

These are their frequencies in the dictionary, not in the language.

Is this the right one? It's in D minor and Op 42, but says it's No. 43. It's going on the player anyway.

I think they already have.

I came across a different Rattle, with the CBSO. I don't know how many repetitions there are supposed to be but the finale seemed to be a bottomless pit of them.

Thanks! That probably explains why I can't find it on streaming. I probably could find a second-hand CD pretty easily though. Even the LP rip seems to have disappeared from Qobuz and now we only have "excerpts".

I'm still trying to find a particular recently available Hyperion box set of symphonies by one of my favourite "artists". But he shares a name with someone else and they seem to have a one to one mapping.

Klumpp is often quite well hidden. For example, he recorded 32 (on a CD called "Haydn 26"). But this is what Qobuz search gives me, including volume 32 of Gallois (which doesn't contain symphony no 32). It looks like they just do OCR on the cover or something. No doubt this will soon be further...

I've only heard one of your four, which was the Janacek, so I guess I'll pick that. My pick is this recent Bruckner 4, with Heras-Casado.

Thanks! I just had a look on IMSLP, and the first free one (it says "Timothy Lanfear") is the same. A continuo is listed at the start but not given any music. Will have to try some recordings with both.
