Do you mean the book or the adaptation? It's definitely there in the book - no doubt about it. (I'm the proud ex-owner of two DSs and a Deux chevaux -- the best cars ever! So cool - especially the cigarette.)

It was never like this when I was young.
We’d drive in our Morris Traveller to Dublin, then get on a prop plane that carried 3 cars & us over to Normandie, & then stay in “campings” there.
There were exotic foods like Danone yoghurt, & la vache q r cheese, & celeri remoulade.
Always sunny.

It’s mph in Northern Ireland but kph in the Republic, so you change at the border. You can see the back of a “kph” sign just beyond the bridge, which is the frontier.

My late mother had something similar if much more modest. She, working with Helen Frick in Manhattan to set up the library, fell in love with an Ulsterman on a visit to Ireland. This led to a transatlantic love affair and, eventually, me.

I suspect that the MPs promoting this don’t know what a burka is. I brought one back for each of my grand-daughters the last time i was in Afghanistan

Indeed. I was lucky enough to be first at the library to borrow this - magnificently entertaining & enlightening. Will return it v soon since others have asked for it since.

“Literature” means anything you can read. Here’s the oed’s 1st meaning of it as “good”.
Many great artists have had nasty views (Shakespeare?).
Both Blyton & Rowling were exceptionally skilful writers who have entertained millions, & good luck to them.
I never want to read anything by them again.

I reached Piccadilly Circus over 2 hours after the march set off.
I’m an old man, with severe arthritis.
I don’t do this for fun.

Taken at a street booth in Ankara aged 17 to get a visa for Iran.
I'd just hitched back from Syria (it's a very long way) having been refused admission because UK helped Israel in the '67 war.
I've travelled on an Irish passport ever since.

My lucky daughter works there. I sent her and my grand-daughter back to York from London last night wheeling an enormous inherited gong.
