Today, after 498 days of captivity, Ruth Chimiel's son, Iair Horn, was released alongside Sagui Dekel-Chen and Sasha Troufanov. I had the honor of interviewing Ruth in her home in Israel, for a documentary film I directed. Her strength, resilience, and optimism profoundly impacted our entire crew.

Today, after 498 days of captivity, Ruth Chimiel's son, Iair Horn, was released alongside Sagui Dekel-Chen and Sasha Troufanov. I had the honor of interviewing Ruth in her home in Israel, for a documentary film I directed. Her strength, resilience, and optimism profoundly impacted our entire crew.

"I think brought up in an immigrant household, one of the things that was so interesting about it was that this story, the African-American story, is not my parents story. And they were not attached. I think in terms of music, they never said this is white music and this is black music.

This Thanksgiving, as my family and I give thanks for our good fortune, we will pray that as a nation, we continue to welcome the oppressed of the world as warmly and genuinely as we were welcomed over a half century ago.

In the end, Mickey struck me as one of the good guys, who, like the rest of us, is simply doing his best to fight the demons we all wrestle with in effort to find meaning and peace in life.
