Mine too, but my accent gets more Southern the further north I go. Just out of spite, I guess

And then the crown sent a new architect to see which was lying and he was like "the old architect undersold it, actually, there's only two walls done and they're different heights and there's no wall at all to the west because the governor says it's 'too Florida' for attackers to get through"

All the letters from the governor to the crown are like "Everything's fine here, right on schedule, how are you, more money please?" and all the letters from the crown's architect to the crown are like "We are 5 years behind schedule, this place is barely standing and all of our workers have died"

Anyway the castillo is fascinating and I got to spend a bunch of time in their archives but the letters are all in 15th c. Spanish calligraphy so I think I understood maybe half of it. But that was enough to tell everyone involved hated each other

Like there's a letter exchange in the archives where the architects are like 'this stuff is too soft, it will never hold' and the crown's agents are like 'make it imposing enough and no one will dare shoot it'

But in the end the softness limited the damage from cannonballs because it didn't shatter

She said that the Thanksgiving dinner sounded very Korean in that the entree was an excuse to have a wide array of side dishes

The other day I was in a meeting with a woman who had moved here from Korea and she was grilling us on our Thanksgiving preferences/traditions and sounded fascinated and bewildered

I honestly feel that way about almost everyone in Discourse

It's good to set boundaries in a relationship, you know. Like "you must never look at me while I'm bathing"

I've read enough folklore to know that you don't ask about the ribbon she never takes off. What everyone takes away from these stories is "his wife was secretly a monster/ghost!" when what they should take away is "if he had listened to her he would've stayed happy"

Life is too short to make good decisions

Some say the world will end in gyre
Some say in blood-dimmed tide
From what I've taste of desire
I hold with those that favor gyre.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction tide
Is also great
And would suffice

Sometimes when I get to thinking too much I think about all these writings that accidentally survived for thousands of years, and the fact that almost nothing we record ourselves on today is durable

We need a better term for "that specific version of that dish that I want", because sometimes what I'm jonesing for is complete trash, from a traditional or food purity perspective

Is there an alt text bot here yet? I loved AltTextUtils for that kind of thing

Also I don't know if you have anyone else in your house? Sometimes my dog will throw a protest if both my wife and I are home but only one I am going on the walk. She seems to not want to leave my wife at home alone.
