Republicans have been actively courting bigots since Nixon.

This isn't new, it's just blatantly out in the open in a way it wasn't before 2016.

(2008 really brought out the racists but Republicans at least tried to pretend that their nonstop fear-mongering about Obama had nothing to do with race)

And that success includes:

Increased prices/accelerating inflation

Increased unemployment

Higher health insurance premiums

Mass farm bankruptcies

Higher electric bills

Less safe food

Measles outbreaks

Scientists, engineers, and academics going abroad

Mass kidnapping

Cities under siege

"You wanna lose the Secret Service and take this outside, fat-ass?"

- what the reporter's response should have been

(If only to potentially provide us with the hilarious footage of Trump getting his ass beat by a woman)

Which is why the US has never lost a war.

And if it ever did, it was only because it wasn't forcing its citizens to pray hard enough.

And God only allowed 9/11 to happen because the government doesn't stone homosexuals.

This works for any necessity and/or economic sector where rent-seeking behavior is common.

So, you know, all of them.

Landlord: Oh, your income just went up by $200 a month. That's great, good for you. By the way, in a totally unrelated decision, I've decided to increase your rent by $200 a month. Now, you could move, but I'm pretty sure you know every other landlord is raising their rents by the same amount.

they're targeting and the staunch opposition to their actions does nothing to dissuade them of this belief.

These chuds really believe the bullshit propaganda they've been fed about how there's a silent majority of people in these areas who support every horrid thing they're doing but are too scared to say anything because they're afraid of being called racist.

As to your meme, they'd just claim it was named after him because it was his idea (because he was just such a pure, virtuous crusader against corruption).

Brett Cooper: There's a surge of conservatism among young men.

Me: That is primarily being driven by misogyny, toxic masculinity, and conspiracy theories.

Brett Cooper: I guess I have my work cut out for me.

Me: Your audience is primarily young men who know you're just a pick-me they can goon to.

Also (to borrow a tired, old, GOP talking-point) wouldn't giving people a $2,000 check for health insurance just increase the cost of health insurance by $2,000 per person?

And while my response might be "we need price controls", theirs is usually "and that's why we shouldn't do anything at all".
November 17, 2025 at 3:23 AM
I would never say that to someone just because they're a Southerner.

I would say that to someone if they voted Republican (and just happened to live in the South).

Bessent's internal thoughts:

Oh fuck, what do I say? Climate change reducing feed and spreading disease?

No.

Immigration crackdown driving labor shortages?

No, but wait...

Immigrants, disease, cows...

Immigrants bringing diseased cows that are infecting American cows.

Yeah, she'll buy that.

Less a change of heart and more getting revenge for Trump refusing to endorse her Senate run, thwarting her aspirations for higher office, so she's trying to find a new lane in her path towards more wealth and power.

Wait, that graph compares cumulative inflation between Biden (4 years) and Trump 2 (9 months).

If the current cumulative inflation rate holds, then it will reach 8.48% after 4 years, almost double Biden's cumulative inflation.

Gas wouldn't even be back to pre-pandemic levels (and it won't because
