Two wonderful pieces of art done by very talented friends that I had framed recently. A lino print of a cormorant drying its wings by my pal Steve, and painting of a gannet pair by @katboothjones.bsky.social which was a very touching gift after my year at BTO. These photos don't do them justice!

Can anyone more up to speed with bones give me some insight to what creature this is from? A pal suggested "pterodactyl keel" but I'm not convinced... 😂 Found on Aberlady Nature Reserve.

Excited to be presenting at #MASTSASM2024 tomorrow - I will be blethering about SeabORD, an individual-based model we use to predict sublethal effects of offshore wind farms on seabirds in General Science Session 2 (Auditorium A). Come chat to me if you want to know more! @mastscot.bsky.social

I am presenting today at #BOUasm2024 on how we used our model, SeabORD, to study cumulative effects. We find that relationships between increasing exposure to OWFs and model outputs (adult mass and breeding success) are not always linear, which highlights the importance of the mechanistic approach.
