Shoes were no longer size 8 or 10 or W/E. They were 44 or 38 or...
L/M/XL became standardised instead of relative to one another in that brand. (This still happens a bit). I still won't try something expensive or full body without trying it on in the shop first.

Used to & then lo & behold things got better. And mostly our world is simpler but there is still a kaleidoscope of issues & exceptions.
