I argued this to a college professor friend of mine. She remains skeptical. Meanwhile, in my career, nothing has been more useful than knowledge of technology and, in particular, AI. What matters is what’s actually happening in the real world. Academia has to get on board.

Agree 100%! I love the trades as an option for a career but it’s can’t be in opposition to an education. It’s be great if young adults could access a core set of basic college level courses like economics and finance as part of their trade program.

I have a friend of Asian descent who has had similar experiences. As a cis white woman, my heart hurts for her. All I can say is, you’re right. As a rule, we suck. Progress just seems so embarrassingly slow.
