Reading After Australia: phenomenal. So many voices i know and cherish: Karen Wyld, Claire Coleman, Omar Sakr, Michelle Law...

Then an unknown voice - Kaya Ortiz - utterly destroys me, in the way only poetry can, and I'm seen and adrift and homesick for my lutruwita and the Mountain, sobbing.

Doing battle with the patch of bush iris "garden" outside my rental, which forms an effective trap for debris from the local pink pepper and plane trees, plus a bit of litter. I found a whole spatula today!

New library book day!

What will i take away from these? Reading what calls from the shelves, rather than what's on my to read list and needs ordering in or purchasing.

This book...

The topic is oh so heavy (and oh so relevant), yet Zgheib woes with such delicate lightness that it is not only navigable, but beautiful.

The world needs more of this aching love for, and understanding of, or humanity.

Had a play date this afternoon. 😃

Injured shoulder is s l o w l y getting stronger after 6 months of work. Chronic issues are hard work, but I'm getting there and utterly delighted to be able to climb (very carefully) again.

WFH perks: pretty nice spot for a coffee break (nicer without the nearby main road, but then compromises must be made and the car independency off the inner city is pretty sweet)

Had a pretty cool new visitor to the pot pond today, taking some water from the wet wood. Anyone know who this is?

I'm at the Capitol in Melbourne for the first time, to hear Jason Stanley musing on Fascism. Pretty big crowd, which is a sign of the times.

I must say the architecture is quite pointy.

Remembering just how much i enjoy being outside, and being motivated to regain my fitness after 18 months of illness, injury, and other life demands. Time for things to change.

Testing out a recipe from the African Violet Society of Queensland cookbook.

Not bad. Will make a good base to experiment in with more complex flavours.

A woman granted power in the face of a collapsing order. As ever, powerful men cede power only when they fear failure & accountability.

Good luck to her. Nepal broke my heart when I visited last year. I understand the protesters.
