Serious personal & professional security risks aside, I also think it's offensive that they continue to play this privacy game with a *paid* OS. They expect you to *pay* for this!

This is why the "AI" branding has been so bad for the conversation. *Machine learning* can make for great assistive tools. Modern *generative AI* is what steals from the entire Internet, uses more power than major cities, and vomits out "finished" assets so companies can pay fewer people.

I have immense respect for anyone who knows more than one language, even more so if they learned it in adulthood. I have such a hard time kicking bad habits and muscle memory I can't even imagine learning a whole other LANGUAGE proficiently.

If you've never seen how broken the 3DS version is, it's a mess. Constant visual bugs (fish in the Fairy Glade rendering as giant eyeballs, torches & skyboxes in some levels scaling completely incorrectly), missing sfx (for his shot of all things), environmental hazards respawn you w/ full health...

I'm really curious which version you played, because as far as I'm concerned the N64 and Dreamcast (and thus sorta the PC) versions are king.

It'll sell just fine like they always do, but I'm hoping it causes more reputational damage. I was in disbelief when I saw its slop, zero attempt to mask it. No "it's a placeholder", "it's an unimportant background element"... just full-on "fuck paying anyone to make it & we don't care who knows"

They could even fully bring Fi back with a slight design tweak and more of a personality, with the excuse that she evolved with all the experience. They've loved teasing her motif/sfx/lore in the last decade or so but never actually directly mention her.
