Apart from color switching is I wanted to try the Digimon route out and make Pokemon that evolve more unexpectedly from where it starter. Since the world and the laws of nature have been messed up it seemed like a good time/era to push how weird/strange animals there could get.

They came in to help restore once nutrient-deficient land back into shape so plants can thrive.
