It's not that easy to create a dice that rolls in the fourth dimension. My tesseract broke in the process.

My 92-year-old grandfather showed me that he can no longer solve difficult Sudoku puzzles without making notes in the margins. Whenever I visit, I see him sitting at the table solving logic puzzles, Sudoku, or Kakuro. I admire him. When I wrote the book Grandfather years ago, he was my inspiration.

I wonder why designers rarely share the dead ends they faced. A six-sided die may be boring, yet we’re so used to its symbols that any change could confuse us. Could chopsticks be redesigned? Is a coffee grinder optimal? What would a new die look like?

I’m mostly camera shy. But here I’m wearing a cap that I make and taking photo with a lens I make (Monocle lens), so for marketing and self-promotion purposes…

The sample hats came and they look super cool :-)

Everyone looks great in the "I Shoot Flash" cap!

First merch drop, but only limited colors and only 100% organic cotton. I think they still get the gaps somewhere from China though. I wish to have those skills to make my own caps! But still… it made me happy designing them.

One Czech company that produces traditional bent chairs asked me to draw portraits of people during the Design Festival. I am using the curves of their furniture as inspiration for the portraits.

Built a tiny Encrypt App in HTML/CSS/JS. Not the safest method, but fun for games—your name is the key to decrypt messages. Imagine using it at summer camp to pass secret notes.

Some people asked me to update Gradient Studio on my website so that HEX code can be rewritten directly. What's your favorite color combination? Please tell me in HEX code. <3

I built a simple prototype of a tool for creating custom smartwatch faces. It’s an older idea that I was finally able to bring to life with Gemini. Everything runs directly in the browser and is made only with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.”

Any students who would like to start the new year with the right tool?

I just finished making this lamp called ‘Tension’ with free plans by Herrmann & Coufal design studio. I love the simplicity and design principles inspired by Victor Papanek and Enzo Mari.

I modeled the chair according to instructions from the book Nomadic Furniture by James Hennessey and Victor Papanek. I plan to make at least two pieces for our new apartment. Love the design. :-)

The rules are simple:
1. Any live cell with fewer than two live neighbours dies.
2. Any live cell with two or three live neighbours lives on to the next generation.
3. Any live cell with more than three live neighbours dies.
4. Any dead cell with exactly three live neighbours becomes a live cell.

I published a new post on my website. It contains a simulator of John Conway's famous Game of Life. I hope you like it!

Number blocks should be made out of wood. 3D printing is a great tool, but some things – especially when designed for children – benefit more from being made of quality, non-toxic materials. Wood offers a more haptic experience, with its natural scent, warmth to the touch, sound, and lasting value.

I’ve sold nearly 400 of my 3D printed lenses in the past year and sent many more to people whose work inspires me. I make them myself, in small batches, just for the joy of seeing this idea come to life—and seeing the world a little differently through it. Support the project here: monoclelens.com
