Working on climate. Not optimistic, but hopeful. And stubborn as the day is long.
the reason silicon valley is so much more excited about AI than the rest of us is because it makes life easier for them to make money from all of us. For 20 years, the valley pumped out hardware ( phones ) and tech ( apps ) normies can get utility from. AI is mostly about optimizing that plumbing.

VERY much regretting that this era of identity politics will now require me to travel in pajamas with a pillow from home under my arm and slippers on my feet, but that's apparently what the moment demands.
really a sign of how fragmented and basically lost the admin has become in the last six weeks or so. Imagine having secretary focus on this dress up for your 90 minute flight thing.

spoke with the executive director of my local food bank today and got this really incredible line: "if you donate 1 can of green beans, we can give away 1 can of green beans. but if you donate a dollar, we can give away 6 cans of green beans"

Zohran is living the dream- getting to meet every single person in New York City one at a time. Doesn’t look remotely like campaigning. More like the world’s most eager next door neighbor to the folks who just moved in.

I think the people of Maine are smart enough to figure out the character of the candidates in front of them over the next year. Sure seems like Platner is like most of us- well intentioned, under informed, and willing to listen and learn. So let’s just let it play out and they can decide.

"we cannot collectively act until we are a collective - the protests help establish that collective."
There are also a few people within the group wondering what the protests accomplished and my statement to them is this, "we cannot collectively act until we are a collective - the protests help establish that collective. We didn't anticipate they would outright stop Trump. Simmer down."

“The 3.5% rule is a concept in political science that states that when 3.5% of the population of a country protest nonviolently against a government, that government is likely to fall from power.”

This gettaway is AMAZING. Over and over, he makes exactly the right move. The lean out past the first guy. Left to create space. Cuts in hard right to the curb behind the bike. Foot isn't even centered on the pedal. Then left around the pedestrian, back right to create a gap.

Thanks to all of you, we just knocked something in the neighborhood of ~$400M in annual revenue off the Disney balance sheet. Eat it, Eiger.
SCOOP / UPDATE — Disney saw more than 1.7 million total paid streaming cancelations during the period 9/17-9/23, a Disney source confirms to me. The total includes Disney+, Hulu and ESPN.
NEW — I wrote about my confirmed scoop from last night that Disney hastened Kimmel's return because of a planned Disney+ streaming price increase announcement coming on Tuesday:

Another reminder, were one needed, that nature already built a uniformly distributed, highly locally optimized form of carbon harvesting called plants. We just need to get in the way of that natural cycle of carbon release. Aka: biochar.

The breakwater was...Jimmy Kimmel? OK, I'll take it. The message is clear: bullies back off when you don't bend the knee.

I don't even like #jimmykimmel that much, but #ABC and #disney are cowards that no longer deserve my money.

Fuzzy knows what's what in South Lake.
Deputies in California found a bear, whom they nicknamed Fuzzy, behind the counter of an ice cream parlor at the Camp Richardson resort in South Lake Tahoe. Fuzzy caused little damage, but cleaned out much of the inventory.

The black bear, which the authorities named Fuzzy, caused little damage but cleaned out much of the inventory at a popular parlor on south shore of Lake Tahoe.
