The key thing is that he can recognise a giraffe like nobody's business. Under pressure. In exam conditions. And at the end of the day, that's the kind of man I want as the leader of the free world.

Not sure there's anything more galling than the acknowledgement that something is bad, only when it happens to them.

It's like when people lose their religious faith when they go something difficult, and you have that chilling realisation that to them other people have always just been NPCs.

I remember the first time I saw 'Paradise Lost', the doc about the 'West Memphis Three'. Because of the political backdrop of the time, it really does look like they were effectively convicted because one of them was slightly goth.

Was supposed to say 'pulling cartoonish expressions in the face of observable reality', but you get the gist.

He might actually be the most irritating man on TV, which...is no mean feat by current standards.

Gets paid six figures for pulling cartoonish in the face of observable reality.

Shamelessness is their whole schtick. If you can look mocking and dismissive, it can't be that serious, right!!?

Yep. The people that won awards that year all need to make like a tree and get out of here.
November 15, 2025 at 12:42 PM
Let's hope it doesn't come to blows.
November 14, 2025 at 9:14 PM
Believe me....life is better that way.

Imagine having so little value for who your 'loved ones' were as people, that you want to have conversations with a computer that's able to approximate an image of them? To blur the line in your memories between precious moments with the person you knew and an algorithm repeating patterns to you?
November 14, 2025 at 8:40 PM
Yep. Jesse 'real men shouldn't tease me by eating bananas and drinking with straws' Watters would pucker so hard he'd turn inside out if he had to cover *that* story.

I hope you know that you've put those of us who committed to boycotting the franchise after they failed to put you in the first one, in a really awkward situation now?

Gremlins would never have become a thing without the particular vision of Joe Dante.

It would be like getting someone other than Tim Burton to make an Edward Scissorhands sequel.

I love the way that this is begins as standard satire, but then really goes the extra mile to try and bluesky-proof itself for the hard-of-satire.
November 5, 2025 at 5:57 PM
So, logically...the next one will be 'Godzilla Plus One'? It's about time we had a Kaiju romcom.
November 3, 2025 at 2:34 PM
That's the bit that breaks my brain. I understand that we have a wildly unreliable media environment, and that we're bombarded with misinformation...but I don't understand how anyone watches and listens to Trump himself, and sees anything but a feeble-minded, desperately insecure man-child.
November 1, 2025 at 9:21 PM
Never apologise. When we can't trust our leaders to look out for us, we have to look out for one another. Thank you for doing a good thing here.

'I can see you, brown skin shining in the sun' does sound like something Cuomo would say too.
October 26, 2025 at 6:31 PM
This starts in such a silly way, that it seemed hard to believe it could get much sillier. But it really, really, delightfully does.

These days, the word 'woke' seems to be used almost exclusively by stupid people to refer to stuff that they don't understand that thereby scares them and/or makes them angry.

The moment it's used in a pejorative sense, all I hear is 'I'm not very smart and easily scared.'
October 23, 2025 at 5:17 PM
Yep. I think a lot of people are failing to recognise quite how good we have it right now.

I know people are hurt by past disappointments, and that there are no guarantees of winning anything, but if you can't enjoy being a fan at times like these, you're just letting the good stuff go by.
October 21, 2025 at 9:47 PM
Seriously. The fact that this *isn't* an Onion story is breaking my brain.
October 21, 2025 at 8:30 PM
If there *is* such a thing as eternal damnation....I really feel like this is the kind of thing it should be reserved for.
October 20, 2025 at 11:32 PM
I don't think you'd feel such contempt if you could see their point of view.
October 17, 2025 at 12:13 AM
That's like 200% to 1500% lower.
October 14, 2025 at 5:09 PM
They don't live in the same reality that most of the rest of us do. Have no idea how tone deaf and condescending this sounds.

You want the abused to be more respectful to their abuser so you can keep cashing checks without pushback?
