I wrote about how democratising telematics could reshape safety, resilience, and sustainability across the global supply chain.

It might just change how you think about who drives the clean-transport revolution.
How SMEs Can Drive Sustainability with Telematics
Discover how small fleets can cut fuel, emissions, and risk through data-driven telematics — building a cleaner, safer, more resilient transport system.

The smallest fleets may yet steer the biggest transition.
They just need the same digital tools as everyone else, affordable, intuitive, data-driven.

If every SME fleet cut emissions by just 10 %, we’d save 120 million tonnes of CO₂ annually, equivalent to the transport emissions of Spain + Portugal combined.

That’s not theory. That’s maths.

Cleaner fleets are also safer fleets.
Every smoother acceleration, every avoided tailgate, every minute of reduced idling = less fuel burned and fewer risks.

Sustainability and safety are the same story told in different languages.

One of my favourite insights from Naeem:

“What’s an inconvenience for a big fleet can be an existential crisis for a small one.”

A single fraudulent crash claim can sink a business. Dashcams now prevent that daily.
October 27, 2025 at 4:54 PM
Telematics isn’t just about GPS pings.
It’s about giving every fleet manager the same visibility once reserved for Fortune 500s.
Transparency is power, and safety.
October 27, 2025 at 4:54 PM
Why does this matter?
Because 90% of the world’s businesses are SMEs.
If they can’t measure emissions, they can’t manage them.
DATA EQUALITY = CLIMATE EQUALITY.
October 27, 2025 at 4:54 PM
And the benefits go beyond emissions.
📉 Fewer accidents
🕒 Less downtime
💸 Lower insurance premiums
That’s resilience in practice, not a buzzword.
October 27, 2025 at 4:54 PM
On my latest blog, I dug into this with Naeem Bari of Linxup, a company making enterprise-grade telematics accessible for small fleets.
The results were staggering.

Their customers drove 6 % more miles on 9 % less fuel.
That’s 1,650 t CO₂ avoided in one year.
October 27, 2025 at 4:54 PM
Here’s what the data shows 👇
According to 2025 IEA & Geotab reports, SMEs that adopt telematics:
• Cut fuel use by up to 15 %
• Slash idling 30 %
• Prevent hundreds of tonnes of CO₂ per year, per fleet

Small data. Massive impact.

Telematics, once a luxury for giants like DHL, is finally reaching small and medium-sized fleets.
And it’s quietly transforming the world’s roads, one local contractor at a time. 🚚

True Theo, nothing’s infallible. But there’s a difference between disruption and destruction.
You can patch a cyberattack; you can’t patch a bombed refinery.
Distributed systems fail differently - and recover far faster.

That’s what my latest blog is about - how Ember’s 2025 data and McKibben’s warning together point to a new kind of power: distributed, clean, and un-drone-able.

Why You Can’t Drone a Solar Panel
From the Red Sea to Ukraine, fossil fuel fragility is exposed. Electrification and renewables are Europe’s path to true energy security.

If Europe (or any region) wants to be shockproof, it needs to invest less in refineries and more in grids.
Less LNG, more local generation.
Less dependency, more democracy.
October 17, 2025 at 9:31 AM
Electrification isn’t just climate policy. It’s strategy.
It’s energy security, affordability, and independence wrapped in silicon and copper.
The fossil age built empires; the electric age builds democracy, equality, and resilience.
October 17, 2025 at 9:31 AM
McKibben’s Ukraine example says it all: coal and gas plants are targets; solar rooftops aren’t.
Hospitals, schools, and homes across Ukraine are installing solar + batteries - staying powered even under bombardment.
That’s resilience made visible.
October 17, 2025 at 9:31 AM
And yet Europe still overtaxes electricity, the cleanest energy carrier, while subsidising fossil fuels.
That’s taxing the cure and funding the disease.
October 17, 2025 at 9:31 AM
Think about that: the world’s rising hunger for power was fed entirely by clean energy.
We grew - without growing emissions.
That’s not “transition.” That’s transformation.
October 17, 2025 at 9:31 AM
Globally, the shift is accelerating. Ember’s mid-year electricity report shows renewables overtook coal in 2025, the first time in history.
Solar and wind met 109% of global demand growth in the first half of this year.
That’s monumental.
October 17, 2025 at 9:31 AM
According to Ember’s new Shockproof report, electrification could halve that fossil import dependence by 2040.
Every heat pump, EV, and rooftop solar array makes Europe harder to blackmail, and harder to break.
October 17, 2025 at 9:31 AM
That line hit me hard. Because it’s true - you can’t bomb the wind or sanction the sun.
And yet 58% of Europe’s energy still comes from imported fossil fuels.
That dependency cost us €930 billion during the 2021–2024 crisis alone.
