In the Spring Statement we heard of further cuts to benefits under the Chancellor's self imposed fiscal rules. I have already said I cannot support welfare cuts but this has sealed the deal. I will vote against these proposals.

"The forthcoming Child Poverty Strategy must go beyond sticking-plaster solutions. We need to see real policy change that addresses the root issue and protects and supports low income households – for example, lifting the two-child limit and benefit cap."

🚨 The DWP has released its annual Households Below Average Income statistics, which show that child poverty has reached a record high – with 4.5 million children in the UK now below the poverty line. This figure is up from 3.6 million in 2010/11.
