Justt saw Bugonia (VERY good btw) and opened up Letterboxd to log it.

Hey, Letterboxd? That's pretty fucking funny.

You might be a nerd if your first thought was not "Rolling Stones album" but "Animorphs #54"

Ran into Gavin Free from the Slow Mo Guys at a movie theater in Seattle once! He was super nice and took a goofy selfie with me 🤪

Post a fictional character who you think would be an antivaxxer.

1. The Talos Principle 2

When I finished The Talos Principle, never in my wildest dreams did I expect a sequel, let alone one that surpasses the original. Not just in terms of puzzle design, but in its exploration of the central questions of our. This one will sit with me for a long, long time.

2. Helldivers 2

FOR DEMOCRACY
FOR SUPER EARTH

3. Animal Well

Dunkey apparently put his money where his mouth is, because this is simply one of the best puzzle games ever made. The pixel art is so alive with light and shadow, you forget it's pixel art. A superb addition to the Metroidbrainia genre.

4. Pentiment

Beautiful, harrowing. Unlike e.g. Golden Idol, there is no satisfaction in this mystery - and that's part of the point. The art is stunning, like an illuminated manuscript come to life. I was so transported to the time and place that for just a moment I forgot I was a godless heathen.

5. IMMORTALITY

Unlike anything I've ever played. Sam Barlow has outdone himself. There is nothing else I can say here other than play this game. Play IMMORTALITY.

6. Neon White

God DAMN, it's fun. This game takes the rush of executing a perfect speedrun and makes that the central loop. Delightfully goofy anime characters combined with a surprisingly Christian (?) story make for a hell of a vibe. Still laughing about the "what do Angels look like" gag.

7. The Case of the Golden Idol

It's rare that a "murder mystery" game leaves me so satisfied, and this is the best of the genre since Return of the Obra Dinn. I love the caricaturish art that makes everything exaggerated and grotesque in a sort of charming way. Too short, if I had to pick a nit.

8. I Was a Teenage Exocolonist

Gosh, this game is beautiful. I'm not even bothered by the clunky mechanics and slow start because behind those is an incredible story with characters I wish I could meet in real life. Some of my favorite art/character design all year and one ending that made me cry.

9. Pacific Drive

Still haven't rolled credits, only because I'm taking my sweet time to enjoy it. Love the PNW setting, the spooky atmosphere, the DIY of it all. Quirks are an all-time favorite mechanic, especially when they're mildly inconvenient - feels like a real car on a real road trip.

Here are the 10 best games I played in 2024 (many of which did not come out in 2024):

10. Grounded

Really speaks to the 90s kid in me. I had a ton of fun playing this one with my dad, who's new-ish to survival games and died frequently to mosquitos. I adore all the tiny versions of things.

My partner and I occasionally enjoy some alphabet nuggets, and whenever we do we play a game - who can make the longest word from the random letters we've grabbed from the box?

I think I just set a new record 😄

Maybe it's recency bias, but I can think of only one answer to this:

"He died doing what he loved: creating value for the shareholders."
