Isak's lack of preseason means he might not start until October. If Ekitiké can play across the forward line, he'd get plenty of minutes. Might even oust Gakpo as first choice LW.

Liverpool weren't throwing massive salaries around at that point. They didn't have the money.

Football media isn't built for Liverpool being pretty much exactly the same as last season just with a new (less interesting) manager. They need big dramatic changes to feed the bottomless cycle of analysis and Slot's LFC is too efficient. That's why they've tried to make the contracts the story.
