I feel like this is going to be the story of the season for JB. Refs aren't giving him anything.

Happy birthday!

Gosh, I miss Luke Kornet.
November 22, 2025 at 11:16 PM
Ha! That doesn't mean they won't attempt to get him for much less than we'd want in return. I trust Brad, but we may just need to ride out a year off Simons and fix the roster in the offseason.

It's been mostly the shooting for Derrick, though. Defense has, last night excepted, been there. (Never thought I'd see a D White game with no blocks!)
November 22, 2025 at 1:00 PM
Fair. I expect that this will happen at some point, but think that it will be a little while yet. (I also think that Joe won't be able to abide by Simons's defense with the first unit, and that the change is unlikely to stick.)

Does life get even harder for Pritchard coming off of this bench? Last year, he was usually playing with JT, Sam, Luke, and Al (assuming he didn't get the start). This year, there's no consistent second unit, and what we have isn't particularly threatening. Teams can load up on him this year.

I'm trying hard to enjoy what there is to enjoy and have resigned myself to everything else. Tonight that means enjoying Walsh and accepting that it's going to be a very up and down season.
November 22, 2025 at 4:34 AM
He's been streaky, but yeah, that probably goes away with more time. I don't think there's anything to be done about the defense, though.
November 22, 2025 at 4:26 AM
It's possible. The reason I'm hesitating is that Hugo does make mistakes (he's only 19!) and is a non-factor on offense (because he needs minutes). When the margins are so thin for us, it's a risk to let him work through everything. (Then again, what better options do we have? Who knows!)
November 22, 2025 at 4:25 AM
He couldn't have done any worse than Minott. I thought Walsh was good tonight.
November 22, 2025 at 4:13 AM
Yeah, Hugo needs some consistent run or to be in ME. I think Max was right about Sam, and he's gone by Feb. There's probably a better situation for him out there where, like you say, he can play off of someone like JT. I like Simons starting in theory, but the ball gets too sticky when he has it.
November 22, 2025 at 4:10 AM
I agree, basically, although I don't see what else Joe could do. It's a deeply imperfect roster, and he doesn't have a lot of options if we're not bringing it. Every choice is a significant tradeoff.
November 22, 2025 at 3:34 AM
You know, it was better than the low-angle we just got. I couldn't tell what was going on on the far side. At least with the overhead you can see the whole court.
November 22, 2025 at 1:59 AM
Is the camera making you a little queasy?
November 22, 2025 at 1:04 AM
For some reason, I want to one-up this. ("Walter McCarty should have his jersey retired to the rafters!")
November 14, 2025 at 11:39 AM
You know, I feel lighter having said it. I can go about my business without worrying about it for a while. (All my other anxieties, Celtics-related and otherwise, can step in.)
November 14, 2025 at 1:23 AM
He has a very tradeable contract and an in-demand skill. I wouldn't be surprised (although as a fellow Hoo, I would be disappointed).
November 14, 2025 at 1:21 AM
This makes me feel better. (Although I'll have you know this is the hot take thread, not the reasonable, better-informed takes thread.)
November 14, 2025 at 1:09 AM
I mean, that's how I feel, too. But I can't imagine us clearing enough cap space for one otherwise without gutting the roster (PP+Sam+?) Would someone want to rent Simons in exchange for a big? I dunno -- but ask again at the All-Star break.
November 14, 2025 at 1:08 AM
JB is going to have a borderline first-team all-NBA season, but will be moved after the season (possibly in a mutually-agreed upon parting-of-ways) for a high-level big. (I don't like this idea, but I fear it's coming. I don't think you can win under the second apron with an unbalanced roster.)
November 14, 2025 at 12:56 AM
Ha! This would be great, but my kids don't watch Forsberg & co.
November 13, 2025 at 12:18 AM
I suppose we don't want potential assists to get too high, though...
November 10, 2025 at 4:46 PM
Seems like a good sign that his numbers are on track with last year given that we have a worse shooting team and some of our best shooters are still finding their level. I bet both of these numbers are higher by the end of the year.
November 10, 2025 at 4:43 PM
That's a good question. A quick look at the leaders suggests that the truly gifted are hovering around 15+, give or take. But it's mostly point guards, plus Jokić. I checked JB's stats for the last couple of years, and they're in line with last year and a little better than the year before.
