Official: #Melissa strengthens to 185MPH sustained winds, w/ a 892MPH pressure. Very likely to end up as the strongest landfalling hurricane on record in the Atlantic basin. It’s so intense & tightly wound, like a 25-mile wide EF4 tornado coming onshore: www.nhc.noaa.gov/text/refresh...?

Update: Hurricane Hunters dropsonde just recorded a pressure of 892MB, again indicating continued strengthening through landfall. This ranks #Melissa amongst the 3 most intense Atlantic Hurricanes on record, & it may end up being the strongest recorded hurricane at landfall in the Atlantic

And the University of Texas, where some members of the Board of Regents have signaled support for the compact. If UArizona, whose endowment is dwarfed by Texas & Vanderbilt's, can resist this political & financial pressure, so can they. But will their leadership be equally principled & brave?
