I wonder how much of this one is simply timing.
Announced pretty much as pre-season hype is really getting into gear so lots of people thinking about shirts and there's not exactly been many hyped attackers to get on the shirt in a while.

It strikes me that PGMOL behave as though they are part of the product rather than being caretakers of it
Perhaps it began as an honest attempt at transparency, but they have involved themselves far too much in the media & the old boys club wants to protect itself first & foremost

The funny thing is Clifford also advised Sunak and did the initial work for the AI safety summit lol.
I'd be wary about financial incentives, but at the same time I'm way happier having a young british tech entrepreneuer inputting than US tech leaders or more out of touch domestic business people.
