Detail from No Kings demo in Wichita, KS. I liked this particular costume because it shows that MAGA = Nazi is meaningful to other people. Hard to guess how many people, as they lined Douglas for several blocks, and spilled over, but many costumes, a wide range of hand-lettered signs, and loud.

I got this email yesterday, from the Social Security Administration, applauding passage of Trump's death-and-desolation bill. It finally convinced me that the federal government has given up all pretense of public service and turned into one "big, beautiful" propaganda ministry.

I was 16 when I dropped out of high school. By then I suspected that everything I had been taught was wrong. Only later, after I started reading Marxists, did I come to understand how and why, and develop the tools to find truth and fend off nonsense. We need more critical theory, not less.
