One important experience I had was when all the guys I was posting with got into politics, and were all reactive jerks in their politics as well as in their posting. I thought it was all a joke, we were blowing off steam. But some of them were serious.

For me, it was an obscure welcoming forum called Warbucket. Absolutely vile, disgusting commentary by young men. But taught me the internet isn't really real and good people become worse versions of themselves when anonymous. It was absolutely inoculating.

I wouldn't have thought a ToS making it functionally impossible for most people to sue the service would be legal, but hey, the law seems less real every day
