Just one problem with this. There is unlikely to ever be another Tory government.

A great example of "Dane Geld". Pay the Dane the gold, and he will be back for more. Pay him once, and you will never get rid of the Dane.

Do you see much of your brother these days? I could tell you stories about him, and what we got up to in the old days. We were some rock 'n rollers back then.

How's your uncle Andy? me and him had some great times together back in the day.

You want borders? You get borders. Do not complain that you got what you asked for.

It is US consumers who pay tariffs, not foreign governments or exporters. Importers pay the tariff and then pass it on in higher prices. Everyone knows this except for those in the Trumponomics bubble.

She will soon find that the UK is not the US where there are no dismissal laws. You cannot fire people in the UK on a whim or for political reasons. Rightly so.

Who exactly is angry over this, other than the Express? Does it want young UK people NOT to be free to work and travel in Europe? Or for young Europeans not to come to the UK? Does it feel the same about all those Aussies, New Zealanders or Canadians who come to the UK? Or just Europeans?

When you insist on creating borders, what do you expect? That the other side won't also create borders and impose controls? That's the way it works. You want borders? You get borders.

If you do not want to be attacked from the Right or the Left, best not to get involved in politics. Attacks from political opponents come with the territory. Next, you know the little snowflake will be getting out of car production because of competition from China.

Clearly the plan is to convert all the dedicated public servants being fired by the unelected Musk into Apple screw drivers.

How do you stop an idea from crossing a border "illegally"? Who decides what ideas are "illegal"? "I think Donald Trump is a moron". Is that an illegal idea? If I said that, would I be arrested if I tried to visit the US in a legal manner because I had an illegal idea in my head?

I came across this from President Trump. See "Tariff money is pouring into the United States". Could someone such as @davidheniguk.bsky.social tell me where this money is pouring in from? I always thought that tariffs raised prices for domestic consumers. Who does Trump think he is taxing

If Trump buys a Tesla sales will further nosedive in Europe. "If Trump drives a Tesla, would you?"

Apart from the grotesque content of this letter, McCarthyism reborn, what strikes me is just how badly it is written. This guy can hardly string two sentences together. Just another one of the "Trump thugerrati".

We await comments from Johnson, Farage, Badenoch, Truss and all the other Trump fans. Are they with Trump or Ukraine?

I am at a loss here. Why is ManU (Manchester United) protesting against the Mercosur trade agreement? What is going on? I did not know there was anything about player transfers in the deal.

In my last week's Sunday Scribblings, I wrote that the twitch of an eyebrow by the Labour Party in the direction of Brussels would cause a right-wing firestorm. QED. Mind you, there is absolutely nothing the Tories or Reform can do. It is known as being on the opposition benches.

In my view, the disappearance of the 2-hour lunch, with a good glass of wine, is to be regretted. What do people achieve by having lunch at their desks? It is not a mark of effectiveness. It is a sign of "busyness" - look at me, how hard a worker I am. I have never succumbed to this practice myself.

What is interesting about this headline is the assumption that in the UK any gov other than a Conservative gov is somehow illegitimate because it is the manifest destiny of Conservatives to govern. Because that is what they were taught at Eton.

As I said, it is always best to believe politicians when they say what they are going to do. From the New York Times in 1930. Saw this here on this site.

I'm a bit old-fashioned. But here's a question. As long as there is a demand in the US for drugs, will someone not supply them? I'm not sure border tariffs are going to impact the suppliers much. Criminals are never much bothered by the law.
