Most of those howling for a royal commission only want one to show that they can “force” the government to hold one. They want one as a performance to show how seriously they take the Bondi shooting, not because of what it’ll actually achieve.

The Coalition’s jumping on the Bondi shooting to blame the government rather than the shooters is just plain disgusting. It’s a transparent and desperate attempt to rescue a fractured shambles of an opposition, fronted by a leader who was heading for the chopping block.
