Thanks to @thetls.bsky.social for publishing this, which is the last thing I’ll say about Brian Vickers, Gabriel Egan (what a charming man), and the tedium of ‘attribution studies’

Today’s fun little poem: Walt Whitman – who at one time worked as a ‘printer’s devil’ – on the ‘pallid slivers’ of metal in their trays. (Nonpareil, brevier, bourgeois, and long primer were names for type sizes before the standard point system.)

Is this thing on? Hello.

I’ll be reading this wedding poem for two friends – plus a couple of other new things – in Oxford this Sunday, 7pm, at the Lamb & Flag’s Poetry Night.

If that sounds appealing, or if you owe me a drink, please do come along. I promise to be reasonably okay.

People living in or near Oxford! I’m reading at the Lamb & Flag tomorrow night (with Jamie McKendrick and other fine folk), where I’ll be debuting my not-at-all-insane new sequence of pub poems…
