Youre absolutely right. Rather than using digitisation as a way of cleaning up a collection (which I hate), we wanted to keep as much of the physical character of the collection in there. See photocollections.courtauld.ac.uk/sec-menu/dig... for more info.

Thanks Holly. Right now searching is limited to text written on boxes and the folders inside them, simply because transcribing it from 2 million individual images was a huge task. But I'm looking at ways to make this happen, as well as keywording the collection.

Next up in mid February is the Italian school, followed in mid March by German and American. Everything else, including Spanish, Swiss, Russian, Scandinavian, Hungarian, Australian, New Zealand, South & Central American, Canadian, Polish, Portuguese, Greek, South and North African by end of April.
