Deeply unimportant NHS-working, non-wingnut, left-ish, film-obsessed, Brit-Kiwi IT guy, based in London.

Anti-Brexit, anti-hate, anti-stupid; so very probably "liberal", "leftist", "woke" or something. Who knows.
“And no, we deny vehemently that any of this was even remotely cribbed from every single fucking MCU film ever and to accuse us otherwise will bring down the wrath of our lawyers.”

Failing that, it’s some by-the-numbers deformed super-villain who’s — you guessed it — threatening the world with some trans-dimensional Big Thing.

That — oh god, who could’ve thought — opens some parallel world with, sigh, oh look: a James Bond who hasn’t fucking died.

From then on, its credits, theme music and then as much of the usual hi-gloss round-the-world bollocks it takes to:

a. Make you forget to go “hang on…”

b. Not make you so annoyed that you pause, rewatch the start again, and then go online to go “hang on…”

I’m just seeing them come up with some cloney-woney thing, all team-focussed and tamped onto the beginning credits.

Probably involving a large vat, set in glossy concrete with a window, and a big door with buttons that goes “beep” as it opens with a voiceover over some bass-heavy soundtrack.

These three on my permanent bookshelves as well since I got them in the early 00s:
Kirinya
Four Hundred Billion Stars
The Prestige

Yeah, you've got some good reading times ahead, Scav.

For me, it was his Harakiri role that got me.
That haunted guilt, all slow burn, a wasted attempt at honour and redemption, in that stripped-down film as tension mounted...
Never seen anything from that genre that hit me so hard.
RIP indeed.

Fuck am I sick of failing to be free of his froggy fucking face all the fucking time on every fucking frequency and channel.

"Holding out to the bitterest end."
November 10, 2025 at 5:57 PM
Ooh! Ooh! I know this one!

This is one of those "too little too late" examples, isn't it?
November 10, 2025 at 5:51 PM
Well, no.

All we’re hearing is yet another bollocks “hey look, we’re going to kick immigrants really hard this time” announcement.

Again and again.

Anything that upsets Nick Robinson enough to make him drop his supercilious overly-hoarse tone even a mini-tone is a positive for me.

All of it coming from people they've been actively brown-nosing, show-casing, both-siding, or otherwise enabling is another positive.

Look, I’ve already bought it, on 4K, I don’t think I can buy it any harder.

This is brilliant

I’m more of a Sibelius’ 5th kinda guy, but thanks: will give this a go…
November 8, 2025 at 8:45 PM
Russ, I want to read them, I do.

But I think I need a buffer of a year or two more so that the silent rage at what these inept pricks did to us has levelled out a bit.
November 8, 2025 at 5:25 PM
Of course they bloody — wait a minute: this is one of those rhetorical questions things, isn’t it.

Kinda wonder -- in the vanishingly small moments when I consider his internal life -- if he even knows what he really wants
November 8, 2025 at 4:09 PM
If I could find a way to create, in just a minute or two, a vast animated GIF with the word "THIS" in large sparkly letters dangling together in space with lasers, I would.
November 8, 2025 at 1:42 PM
It's just such a tooth-grindingly dumb move.
Yeah. That should get all that Reform demographic back to Labour.

OK, OK, the effect hasn't kicked-in yet, but those numbers are going to swing any moment now.

(Sure hope they make up for all those people who we told to "leave if you don't like it" and who, um, actually left.)
