Can't speak to specifics for Crime and Punishment but I usually go for the Oxford World Classics version for old stuff in translation. Good notes etc. and just a generally more pleasant reading experience than Wordsworth editions

video games? I deleted Balatro sometime early in the year after getting all the achievements bar one. Not a game I should have on my phone. Otherwise I mostly played Zachtronics Solitaire Collection and occasionally dipped my toes back Into The Breach.

I feel like many action packed shows (and films) mistake action for stuff happening, the action set pieces are often just kind of padding to space out the plot beats.

Yeah CSS got really good whilst most people were looking the other way. The web would be 100% better if front end people had spent the last ten years getting the most out of new css features instead of trying to abstract css away with a variety of build tools

I got a food bin with a proper catch on the top for a xmas present last year and it was life changing: Pleased to report 100% fewer instances of me swearing on the doorstep first thing in the morning in 2025

... thinking about it when I play a boardgame by myself, playing more than one side in order to learn the rules, I tend to be standing up. Also, plenty of wandering about in a Diplomacy game, nipping off to have private conversations in the kitchen etc.

Thanks for posting this Tim. I was thinking of saying something similar a week or so back when there was a bunch of stuff going round re early Christmas decorations (middleclass xmas refuseniks destroying community!) but feared being the stereotypical bluesky killjoy/ scold.
