Synchronicity: Firestarter was my first Stephen King book. My mom lent it to me one afternoon when I was home with the flu. The fingernail scene was "oof", but I couldn't put it down. Up to that point, I only read when I had to. SK's stories transformed me into a habitual reader and (later) writer.

Oh, he remembers full well what happened. What he can't square with is how swiftly he lost, to whom, and by what means: namely, Americans turning away from complicit networks and (critically) starving them of advertising revenue - a misstep which cost these companies millions, if not billions.

The mental contortion in play right now is that Trump was "adjacent" to what was happening, not guilty of any "wrongdoing" himself.

That Trump was fully aware his business partner was a child rapist, said nothing, did nothing, continued to conduct business with said child rapist... all "adjacent".
