This may interest @ka81.bsky.social . Lexicon is the most challenging thing to find for those who experience #CSA in childhood. Attached is an email, one of many sent to the production company that made a BAFTA-winning documentary about institutional #CSA. Go well.

#Medomsley. Jake Richards, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Ministry of Justice, has set out the Govt’s plans. Front and centre is the introduction of an alleged ‘duty to report’ law. In reality, it is little more than the status quo in new clothes, with a counterfeit label attached

Govt suggests this will contribute to halving violence against girls (children) in the next decade. It's an absurd assertion. The model has no precedent in any of the 80% of jurisdictions in RoW that have MR. Reporting suspected #CSA remains discretionary @privateeyenews.bsky.social

Relax. Farage tells us that the former culture minister Nadine Dorries, who didn't know how Channel4 was funded, is going to help develop Reform policy on the BBC's future.

Guardian 14.08.25 by Dr Bernard Gallagher on Grooming Gang data || 3.7% of the 115,489 CSA/CSE offences recorded by police in E+W in 2023 involved group based contact of which majority Pakistani heritage grooming gangs would have been a part. Of course all CSA/CSE crimes are seriously underreported

Supporters of the Govt's falsely labelled MR law include the puppets in the graphic below. Their support for this unique model is equivalent to climate change denial. They have to ignore empirical evidence and data that demonstrates well-designed MR is a vital component of child safeguarding

The first article on grooming gangs was written by Julie Bindel and was reportedly difficult to place. Eventually, The Sunday Times Magazine published on 30 Sept 2007. Note the comment by the Barnardo's Director Wendy Shepherd regarding statutory requirements drive.google.com/file/d/1-F5Z... /2

Lord Hanson's response exposes the Govt's concealed thinking. B'ness Grey-Thompson's PMB for well-designed mandatory reporting of known and *suspected* child sexual abuse *stretches* government (because it works!). See my Substack piece of 14.10.25 bsky.app/profile/tom-...

Prepare to weep at the waste.

Informed choice currently being denied NSW parents who place their children in early years settings.

Similar legislative arrangements are needed here. It's foolish to think an Ofsted or ISI report tells you anything about safeguarding in any children's setting. It doesn't.

The NSPCC's definition of 'guardrails' is inconsistent. Anything needing weighty government investment sees the NGO perform a Phil Bennett sidestep. The response below is similar to climate change denial in the face of overwhelming empirical evidence. Wanless didn't answer, Husbands was spot on.

This unutterably bad piece of legislation arrives in the Lords this month.
It's the status quo with a counterfeit mandatory reporting label applied. The justification for the design, which so spectacularly fails children, is in part 'false memory' (syndrome). Signed by @jessphillipsmp.bsky.social ☹️

Dr Suzanne Smith, then Director of Safeguarding DBS, giving evidence to IICSA during the Residential Schools Hearing, confirms the DBS has never prosecuted. I believe its position is unchanged.

An extract from a submission I made to the inquiry on hearing Dr Smith was to give evidence. 2/2

It appears Kevin Sutherland's death was avoidable but for the inconsiderate response by SCAI to his repeated requests.

The Scottish Child Abuse Inquiry has commissioned this (independent) review which means Jason Beer's invoice will be settled by SCAI.

Reveneering?

The inquiry began in 2015. It's remit excludes the majority of schools attended by children in Scotland and other settings at which child sexual abuse begins. It's difficult to see effective safeguarding recommendations emerging from it, and IICSA's lamentable outcome won't help.

The Govt's Cyber Security + Resilience Bill is expected in Parliament shortly. In it, the Government will propose mandatory reporting of cyber attacks. As the Home Office got MR of known + suspected CSA so badly wrong, I'm keen to see if that was a temporary aberration. www.gov.uk/government/c...

#1 states that the prescribed person, a junior one in your question, reports *directly* to either (a) (b) or (c).

Current safeguarding protocols here involve referring the matter to the leadership of the setting for it to decide what to do with the concern. It's discretionary.
