The bright colors make it seem like the strangest children's show in the world.

Even so, the Russians managed it during the opening days of the war but ran into serious EW fratricide issues as well as AFU IADS redeployment.

In terms of airframes sure, but Ukraine had by far the largest park of air defense equipment in Europe after Russia at the start of the war. Like astronomically more than everyone in the West. Turns out that it's hard to conduct a sustained SEAD campaign against 170 S-300s.

I know Justin Bronk advocated for a UAF organized around Meteor capability to defend against FAB strikes but that's dramatically than anything on offer from the US.

In your opinion what does the Ukrainian air force look like if we had started standing them up earlier? What does that get them? Can they actually do anything about Russian IADS and the VKS or are they playing goalie vs KH-101s and Shaheds?

Of course they did, they asked for basically everything we had, and who wouldn't? They also asked for artillery shells and barrels. The choice is never A AND B? It's always A OR B? Should we have given them more so that the tradeoffs were less painful? Yes. Would that have eliminated tradeoffs? No.

I don't disagree but it would have required a much bigger aid package. Aid was constantly triaging the most recent battlefield crisis. Tac air eventually is good but not at the expense of 155 shells now. I think part of the issue is nobody wanted to believe the war would go on so long.

Did some work on the refining problem a while back and while some novel options open up due to the fact that you're in zero g and vacuum, the scaling is a bitch and a half. The presumption is always that you'll find that one perfect rock though.

Looks a bit like a pentagram over a stylized Texas which would be hilarious.

Do they even use FOs all that much anymore? I thought everyone and their grandma had organic ISR, even down to the individual gun level.

He might've Mike Johnson'd his way in if he hadn't decided that he could actually just ignore all the annoying emails from Congress after he was confirmed. Now they're all mad at him for ghosting them.

This attitude is how you end up with light novel titles.

Oh, I thought it was a recent engineering grad looking to work in the industry or in DOT&E.

Amazing. Hope it doesn't become awkward for the guy who ran it.

Unless I misunderstood, it's just uranium ore right? The most dangerous thing JNIM could do with it is throw the rocks at people. The activity is nearly irrelevant.

you're going to ask people to engage in a decade and a half of miserable delayed gratification. We could pay surgeons a bit less but frankly, there are much easier routes to making that kind of money.
November 29, 2025 at 7:44 PM
The 35k doesn't go straight into the surgeons pocket, that includes the anesthesiologist and a few other people in the room. Then malpractice insurance eats up another big chunk, rates in CA are about 100k/yr. Don't get me wrong, it's still insanely good pay but you need a strong incentive if
