However, I don't anticipate that Trump might decide to turn Ukraine into a "porcupine of weapons", as some analysts (e.g. Ryan McBeth) have suggested. This doesn’t align with the anti-Ukrainian rhetoric of Trump’s team and the promises made by Trump prior to the elections.

In the near future, I expect a steady flow (or should we rather say a trickle) of American arriving supplies to continue arriving to Ukraine.

3) It's not likely that Trump will cut the military aid for Ukraine completely, although he may continue to threaten to do so. As suspending military support from US would significantly damage American relationships with European countries.

Zelenskyy cannot openly ignore Trump. However, it doesn't mean that Ukrainian leadership will accept any settlements that leave Ukraine weakened and vulnerable to future russian aggression.

He is willing to take this risk and will not back down just because Trump wants him to. Unless Putin gets what he craves — political control over Ukraine (Anders Puck Nielsen made a good video on the topic).

Moscow's dictator is pouring significant resources into sustaining the war effort, risking overheating the Russian economy and losing everything if it collapses.

2) Trump and his cronies have carefully crafted the MYTH that he can stop the war with the snap of his fingers.

But in reality, he has no sway over Putin.

Because he doesn't care about them, either.

But Trump understands that European security will be seriously compromised if Ukraine is forced to submit to Russia. To him, Ukraine is just a valuable bargaining chip.

Now, regarding the russian invasion of Ukraine

1) Trump's words of how it's horrible that Ukrainian people are dying is a mere HYPOCRISY.

He doesn't care about Ukraine. Ask yourself: why doesn't he talk about other places afflicted by war, like Myanmar or Sudan?

I expect Trump to continue the trade wars he waged during his previous term.

An easy pick for a populist wanting to make a lot of noise and create the appearance of useful activity.

We might even see him fulfilling some of his threats to impose tariffs in the very first days of his presidency.

On the global stage, a devastating war rages in Europe, while another war is brewing in the Indo-Pacific. A time when an administration staffed with inept individuals can be very dangerous.

The motto of the new government: loyalty over qualifications.

Trump has effectively subdued the Republican Party, and with a GOP majority in both the House and Senate, loyalists will fill all key positions. There are no guardrails, effectively US is backsliding towards autocracy.

It'll be nothing like 2016, as both the domestic and global landscapes have significantly changed.
