The Daily Mail attacking the BBC on the grounds of editorial standards is worse than the pot calling the kettle black. The Daily Mail is a witch's cauldron of distortion, misrepresentation and outright fabrication.

If you're sickened by Labour whipping its MPs to vote down amendments that might have made the Planning & Infrastructure Bill less destructive to nature & wildlife...

Maybe it's time to join the Green Party?

Putin's regime already had plenty of insight into Trump, and almost certainly no shortage of kompromat also. But Epstein was no doubt well placed to add some particularly unpleasant detail to the picture.

If a woman in a pub were coming out with this drivel and then told me she used to be prime minister, I'd suggest she seek psychiatric help at the earliest opportunity.

What to do when you're tanking in the polls and emails are released showing you knew *all* about Jeffrey Epstein's sex trafficking of underage girls?

For Donald Trump, a war with Venezuela beckons.

Nigel Farage, Boris Johnson, Donald Trump, the Murdoch press, the Tories' Shadow Culture Secretary, the Israeli Embassy in London & Russia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs have all now weighed in to the attack on the BBC.

Crooks & liars all agree:
It's time to kill the BBC.

9/ Given the craven behaviour of the BBC Board, it's probably too much to hope that it will respond to Donald Trump's threat of a $1 billion SLAPP suit in the same way that Private Eye responded to a crook threatening to sue them: f*** off.

Jacob Rees-Mogg: "Defend freedom of speech!"

Also Jacob Rees-Mogg: "Trump is right to sue the BBC for $1 billion. Teach these dreadful lefties a lesson!"

7/ Why is Trump bothering to intimidate the BBC with the threat of a €1 billion libel suit?

Because the BBC has a very large audience in the US, where it is trusted considerably more than all major US news brands.

Truthful reporting is anathema to autocrats.

6/ Michael Prescott is an old friend of Robbie Gibb & was on the panel to choose the head of Ofcom when Boris Johnson was PM.

Gibb tried to swing it for a Tory apparatchik but was overruled by (of all people) Nadine Dorries, who preferred another.

3/ It would be interesting to know exactly what role BBC Board member Robbie Gibb played in this affair.

Whoever leaked Michael Prescott's inflammatory & ideologically loaded memo must have known what damage it would do to the BBC.

Cui bono?

2/ Hanover has been described as expert in media manipulation & covert lobbying.

You could be forgiven for seeing the leaking of Michael Prescott's inflammatory memo as a textbook example of media manipulation (with the full connivance of the Daily Telegraph et al).
November 10, 2025 at 3:30 PM
1/ Michael Prescott of Hanover Communications, whose leaked memo alleging left-wing bias led to the BBC meltdown.

You could be forgiven for thinking that a corporate lobbyist & former Murdoch press hack may not have the best interests of public-service broadcasting at heart.

A battle-weary US soldier sleeps on the luxurious bed where Hermann Goering once slept.

Many Nazis became filthy rich through corruption. Trump & his accomplices are determined to outdo them in greed.

Elon Musk's Neuralink claims to have used a brain implant to make a monkey "see something that isn't there".

That's also pretty much the point of X these days. It's users are all experimental monkeys as far as Musk is concerned.

Could have spent hours at Suzanne Treister's Prophetic Dreaming show at MOMA Oxford. She anticipated the sheer weirdness of cyberspace years before it metastatized into every part of our lives & maps the morphing of hippy counterculture into post-truth surveillance capitalism.

Mamdani's victory & the other Dem wins have enraged Trump. The window for him to assert full authoritarian rule with any pretence of a mandate is closing.

This is an extremely dangerous moment for US democracy & probably also for Mamdani personally. Hope he has good protection.

I tagged Grok into an X post about Samir Zitouni & false claims about the Huntingdon attack that were amplified by Grok.

This led to the following exchange.

Grok is quite literally making stuff up, first to gratify the racism of Elon Musk and then to disguise the fact that it is doing this.

Andy Wigmore, close friend of Farage & former comms director at Leave.EU, is now a leading figure in Reform UK.

Wigmore is on record saying that the Nazi propaganda machine was "very clever".

Much talk about how train services can be made safer in the wake of the Huntingdon attack.

Perhaps stop treating mental health services as the poor relation within the NHS?
November 3, 2025 at 3:52 PM
What would motivate a trained journalist & former newspaper editor in his mid-70s to ask this leading question based on a factually misleading account of the Huntingdon train attack?

Only one man has the answer & Andrew Neil is unlikely to admit it, even to himself.

Was tempted to put a #Farage themed pumpkin by our door for #Halloween but was persuaded it would be too upsetting for trick-or-treaters.

Three Reform councillors in Kent expelled for "dishonest & deceptive behaviour".

They must be baffled. Surely this is exactly the sort of behaviour modelled for them on a daily basis by Nigel Farage & Richard Tice?
