I wish there was a public speaker today who could articulate Lincoln’s antidote to end times rubric in slightly less antique language. “End times” fatalism is evangelical nonsense exploited by despots and others who exploit fear.

I was fortunate my mother opened an account for me at the local bookstore and introduced me to one of the sales ladies. I could stop in any time (after school eg.) and purchase any books I wanted. One of the first was “The Autobiography of Malcom X.”

I clerked for Judge William M Dale in Multnomah County in law school (night classes) and after. The thought that any agency could walk into a judge’s courtroom and attempt to effect a warrantless arrest is beyond the pale.
