Happy Thanksgiving! I hope all that celebrate, do so surrounded by family, friends and loved ones. Food is the greatest equalizer and that’s why it’s so frequent in Tolkien’s books.

In October of 1958, in Tolkien’s letter #213, he said “I am in fact a Hobbit (in all but size). I like gardens, trees and unmechanized farmland; I smoke a pipe and like good plain food.”
