I am in a weird place in terms of my understanding of epistemology in general I think.

Then when one wants to bring back the time dimension, it is not easy. Phylogentic analyses are one way to go about it but i know your own criticism of those. I generally struggle with wanting to uncover main drivers but not be very deterministic at the same time.

Radcliffe-Brown and Levi-Strauss both understood the terminology to be classificatory one emphasizing the perpetuation of the group and the other alliances and mental models but both being synchronous at core.

That's fair. My basic understanding is Morgan had more of a descriptive idea of kinship terminology and thus believed in things like group marriage and a unilineal cultural evolution.

Do you believe we can trace back the original indo european kinship system? I did try uncovering such things a lifetime ago but now i trust nothing. Every book i read convinces me to something else. Let's hope all this confusion is just the darkness before the dawn of some illumination

Data science is reduced to a business analyst job for the most part. Business questions are always causal yet decision makers never have the time or the patience for CI. They want to see a naive comparison, even error bars are a luxury. CI may be needed to get the job but not to _excel_ at it.
