Imagine for a moment that the world is run by someone other than old men. Old women, young men, young women, randomly selected people of all ages and genders, take your pick.

The world would be just as messed up, just in different ways. The problem isn’t old men, it’s people. We’re broken.

Haven’t seen the show, but the review makes me want to check it out.

I wonder if they make special glasses that would enable me to read that comic book cover.

I read the books as a kid, but I never knew there was a comic book.

If you go to the 4:30, you can receive Jesus. Definitely worth the trip!

Catholics are generally of the mindset that there can be no contradiction between faith and science, because God created an intelligible universe. Scientists pursue how it works, philosophers pursue the “why”. Hopefully Catholics are more fun to debate with anyway. 😀

When my mother in law tells me I should pray the rosary, it makes me want to do the opposite, because I harbor hard feelings against her. And I have reasons. But that doesn’t make it wrong for her to tell me to pray the rosary. I should pray the rosary, and also forgive her for her flaws.

As a catholic I find it very discouraging to see Catholics beating up on other Catholics on social media.

Barron is a good man and has brought many to the church.

I’ve never met him but I am guessing he is as flawed as the rest of us. Maybe give him some credit for the good he has done also.
May 5, 2025 at 9:25 PM
You and several others seem to be assuming Barron’s positions on climate change, immigration and the poor, based on that single sentence. The comments about Dorothy Day, Mother Theresa and Fulton Sheen all suggest a lack of familiarity with his viewpoints.
May 5, 2025 at 8:39 PM
I think you are taking his actual words out of context. He said

“Look, there are indeed moral implications of the Gospel, but the Gospel itself is what truly matters.”

His point was about the media picking single issues and elevating them over the pope’s role as steward of the whole gospel.

Here is an example of an instance where Barron extols Dorothy Day.

My concern is, as our churches begin to open, that some may forget the vital importance and essentiality of the Mass.

I am just trying to understand your post, because it doesn’t line up with my perception of Barron. I have listened his Sunday sermons and podcasts for years, and I find him to be neither an activist nor a Pharisee. He seems generally to give good moral instruction, & he has led many to the faith.
