Yes and no! If you look at all the concept art and compare to the film it’s clear they took way more of Syd Mead’s designs. In part because it was actually renderable using the technology available. Moebius’s designs were more complicated and didn’t lend themselves to 80s computer graphics.

The score is a masterpiece and it’s a tragedy Carlos did so few of them (her A Clockwork Orange score is arguably even better). Although the London Philharmonic contribution is also superb.
