The problem is the auction culture. For unusual and hard to prove places I get it, but for everyday homes, auctions should not be a thing.

25+ years ago I was selling for the first time. McGrath agent came through and suggested a low price guide, to get people in etc . Don’t sit right we me. I went with simple private treaty stating my price. Still got the price I wanted, and felt better about it.

Am on holidays in turkey. I don’t have kids. Was speaking with an Aussie couple I met. Also no kids. We all agreed, without debate, that universal childcare is the next problem we want our taxes to solve.
