Togs And Garms

Gentleman's preworn and vintage seller. Music and non-league football fan. Old- school leftie.
The nineties have clearly had the same cultural makeover that the endlessly eclectic early 80s ended up with, ie a reduction to shoulder pads, new romantics, Wham, Duran and Boy George. Obvs the 90s is now "lads" Oasis and the union jack.

The new album is a real gem isn't it!

By stopping at 1986 you're missing out on some great singles and b sides though Dave.

It's Coate Water in Swindon. Apparently it, and its surroundings, inspired the XTC song "Grass."

There's lots to great stuff to discover about Matt Deighton Dave...I'd start with Mother Earth's "People Tree" album and then check out solo stuff like "Villager" or "Wake Up The Moths."

Do they have to be singles? If not, how about Your Silent Face by New Order?

It's brilliant isn't it! Joyous, bright and tuneful. There's a bit of Costello and a hint of Blur in there too.

That's a great review Dave. Out of interest, have you heard last year's Field Music album? It's really good and you can see why The Kane Gang have signed them up for these gigs.

Dave, have you reviewed the Dingwalls gig anywhere? I'd be very interested to read it.

Well done Nige, not before time.

Loved The Sin Of Pride. Luxury is a great tune as well, as is the gorgeous cover of Save Me.

Enjoy it Dave, looking forward to a report!

All excellent and all recommended...I can vouch for them all.

Dave, if you haven't already it's also well worth checking out the Dr. Robert solo stuff. Plenty to admire there too.

Just absolutely wonderful. Ocean Rain and Porcupine run it close, but this shades it. Still sounds fantastic and genuinely innovative too.
