Today I'm having just one #wine, but it has enough aroma and flavor for two: 2011 Istina by Francuska Vinariya, owned by Estelle and Cyrille Bongiraud - a French vigneron couple who moved to Serbia to make wine.

This one is a blend of three local grapes […]

Today having two bottles of white(sic) #wine by the great Dario Prinčič: 2019 Bianco Sivi and his regular Bianco. The glass is filled with the former - not very Bianco, innit? ;)

Dario never disappoints, and Sivi (macerated Pinot Gris) is no exception - […]

First comparative tasting of 2025 and I'm back to #gamay: Bass Philip from Gippsland, Australia vs Château Thivin Côte de Brouilly Cuvée Zaccharie, both from 2019.

The Aussie one is surprisingly powerful, with more leather behind the fruity notes. The […]

Got some great Japanese #wine today. Particularly happy about scoring three bottles of Viniqrobe - one Pinot and two Merlots. They are exceedingly hard to get, since they're not only excellent, but also have those lovely unique ballerina labels that people […]

A bottle of2022 single vineyard #tannat from Bodega Garzon in Uruguay I'm enjoying tonight with some cassoulet.

Wonderfully thick, leathery and earthy, with chocolate, tobacco and well integrated acidity that keeps everything balanced and delicious. Wonderful!

A bit of an unusual occurrence for me - using my Riesling glass to have an actual #riesling - 2020 Laurent Bannwarth Riesling Nature.

Surprisingly zesty, highly acidic, bright and fresh, but hiding a nice mineral finish under all that freshness. I do like it […]

Not a comparison today, just felt like having both white and red #wine tonight :)

2021 Hacienda Las Cañas Listan Blanco has everything I love in Silas Canarias wines: minerals, sulphur, long finish... Absolutely beautiful.

2022 Brân is wonderful too - feels […]

Normally when I buy #wine I tend to get attracted to old vine ones, but I decided to mix this up and get a bottle of 2021 Young Vines Xinomavro by Thymiopulos - I'm so glad I did! High acidity balanced beautifully by tannins that remind me of black tea, very […]

Wine party in a park in Tokyo today - some great bottles were had!

Just one bottle today, but it's a classic - 2021 Maison Leroy Beaujolais. It's just quintessentially Beaujolais - in color, aroma and taste. Light, fresh and delicious!

Bought this just because the label made me laugh, but it's actually quite good! Moscato bianco from Lazio, Italy. Definitely very natural, with a bit of barnyard aroma and all, but goes down smooth and is enjoyable on a warm evening like today (why is it still warm though?!)

1979 Barolo that the restaurant wife and I went to for our wedding anniversary opened for us. Wonderful!

Another mini comparative #wine tasting tonight - felt like Gamay again, so had Domaine du Maupas 2021 L'Indésirable and Guy Breton's Côte de Brouilly 2021.

The former is a beautiful blend of strawberry, pepper and leather notes, while the latter is much […]

Today's mini comparative #wine tasting is #pinotblanc again: 2020 Kirchberg Weissburgunder by Klumpp vs another vintage of a wine I've had before: 2021 Pinot Blanc Alsace by Domaine Zind Humbrecht.

Not too dissimilar, but Klumpp is a clear winner to me - […]

Today's mini-tasting is comparing two Gamays, interestingly neither of them from Beaujolais. Barbara Lebled's Gamay Sans Toi from the Loire Valley is a wonderful bright strawberry candy in a glass. In contrast, Domaine Dupasquier Gamay Savoie has more dust […]

Today's bottle is a very interesting white wine from Sicily: a 2023 SP68 by Occhipinti winery. A blend of Zibibbo and Albanella, both of which I'm unfamiliar with, but showing that wonderful hint of gunpowder aroma that I love in volcanic terroir wines. Fresh […]

Being an adult means I can have wine whenever I want, like at noon on Monday, so that's exactly what I did :)

Beautiful orange Gewurztraminer (with a little bit of Auxerrois and Pinot Gris). Only 4 days of skin contact, but look at this color! Perfect for […]

Had some wonderful, lesser-known champagne with sushi tonight. Quite pinot-heavy and amazingly delicious - it was a feast!

Random #wine ramble - I do love how wine changes as I drink it. The first glass and the last glass from the same bottle can really feel like two completely different wines, and I enjoy that immensely. Temperature, oxygen, sediment at the bottom of the bottle, it all affects the taste and smell […]

Another comparative tasting tonight, this time between two Beaujolais: 2018 Madame Placard by Yvon Metras and 2021 Pierreux Brouilly by Pierre-Marie Chermette.

The former smells more "organic", but is much brighter, fruit-forward, and refreshing at first […]
