Still thinking in 2026 that Republicans respond to reality

I was watching what I'm sure must be this guy over at Edgewood Park over a few encounters this summer. Tended to be following around another coyote. At one point, saw what I assume was a parent (this was when 3.5 leg was closer to a puppy) kill a California king snake, mark it, and leave it for him.

Me, a keyboard warrior thinking a dude who got shot in the neck fighting fascists in the Spanish civil war was a poser.

The idea that there might be a scaffold protein that can phase separate on its own and allow other proteins to do so that otherwise would not be able to do so (in cellular conditions) seems like a pretty low bar to define a scaffold without this clause that the properties would not be altered.

Just reading off your thread here, the idea that there would be an llps scaffold that does not alter its dynamics at all as clients enter its droplet seems absurd on its face. Is this really a necessity for the concept of an llps scaffold?

This is a big thing with state assembly people as well. State congresses only are in session for a fraction of the year, but it is real work when in session. Who can afford to work part time while living comfortably? Pretty much only the wealthy. And that living comfortably part is important.

Playing them less just makes them vulnerable to bribes of various sorts of only pets the wealthy take these jobs. But they also shouldn't be able to become super rich either. They also need to have enough to not either silo themselves in DC or in their home districts.

My preferred solution would be to make sure these people are well paid, but lose access to things like stock trading and actually enforce ethics rules. Like, well paid enough that you'd can live completely comfortably with access to a place to live in the capital and in their home districts.

It would actually mean only rich people would run, even more so than now...

I'll always remember a gwas talk I saw where they admitted that in their analysis, living in northern vs southern uk was showing up as a genetic trait.

I saw my tortoise climb ~2 feet up the corner of a chain link fence before I ruined her fun and took her down. We put a lid on our enclosure to prevent cat interactions, but she'll uses her caves etc to act as a stepping stone and would def be able to get out the ~1ft side without the lid.

This doesn't even work as a joke, why would you want a satire mag to become just a news site?
