The best Everton podcast’s best show had one of it’s best episodes. Great content.

Was there for first Everton game since Jelavic overtime winner against Spurs. Amazing stadium. Fans were up for it. Shame the team seemed to lack courage or confidence to have a real go. I would say numbers is not main reason to recall Armstrong. Its quality.

I would argue Tarky plays his best alongside a partner with pace. So again tonight. If we are to play a higher line at home, O’Brien must remain in the middle until Jarrad returns.

Agree with you on that pairing, but I dont think Moyes will see it that way. Was trying to be realistic.😅

Unexpected joy. Agree with Joe Thomas who said we have an attack that wants to play high, combined with a defence suited to play deep. Gives us problems in midfield that Gana can’t solve every week. Going forward central defence must include O’Brien or Jarrad. In midfield, legs with Irig or Alca.

More expansive way of playing and expectations offer new problems. Gana and Garner does not protect areas in front of back 4. O’Brien will be targeted and we look very streched. Tarky not comfortable asked to defend a bigger area. Ndiaye restricted in new role. Him left and Grealish in no 10 ??

Spot on. Squad stronger, but cant handle rotation at that level. Players like Barry and Dibling need to play with the core of the team to give us an idea, instead of having to prove themselves among Coleman an McNeill.. Stubborn an old school Moyes. Defeat Monday and mood will change. Unnecessary.

I think Saturday was an outlier statistically. Which due to profiles of our strikers we are vulnerable. Let’s see what happens next home games. I expect them not to be very different.

Great piece. So many positives with his arrival. Literally takes pressure off team mates with the attention he gets. Opposition analysts will start trying to nullify, so others need to step up.

Sidenote: do you know why the club has stopped releasing in training videos? Miss those..

Great piece and an intriguing player. Sidenote: from you watching u-21s. I guess if both strikers are injured, God forbid, we would see Iliman used there, but anyone bubbling in the younger age groups as wild card options?

Awesome coverage. 100 % integrity. Both we the fans and the club are lucky. Armstrong out on loan? Said it before and will say it again. A blue Gerrard in the making.

What about outgoings? McNeill and Beto seem logical? Get the feeling Moyes would like striker with different profile.

Well written. Disappointed in Moyes. Has talked his squad down in the summer. The Friedkins must wonder if funding Moyes is right. In a league of great coaches, simply managing your squad old school wont compete. Players want to join a way of playing and a vision, not a new stadium or project.

Stone age football and management. Reactive to Leeds in every aspect and decision.

Well written. Another tin hat theme. In the existing squad. Who has the skill and understanding to see and execute the game as KDH and a player like Grealish do? We might be surprised.

Thought Iroegbunam was a major factor in physicality first half. Sure he will play more minutes next season. Decision and precision holds him back. Gana starting to look his age? Played too much on the tour. Would have liked to see Barry when the team was on top. Otherwise not to concerned.

Good first half. No need to panic. Gave away two goals. O Brien will learn. Afraid Patterson wont have that chance when season starts. No depth shows the gulf the recruitment team has to adress. Only worry is next games and season come fast. In hindsight playing best 11 from start tied Moyes hands.

Not a must. RW and CM priorities. Moyes quote is the yardstick. An elite stadium needs elite players. We have recruited potential. Next ones in must be proven.

Do you think there will be more signings before the US trip?
July 14, 2025 at 9:32 AM
Great article.
June 12, 2025 at 9:52 AM
Great stuff as usual. Giving Gana 2 years is not the signal we should be giving.

Worth the wait.

Keane, Doucoure and Ashley Young in the 11. Moyes made it joyful to watch the blues in the beginning. This has a very Dyche feel about it.
