Such a shame, it is a phenomenal game.
It's weird, I didn't see any mayor releases around the time other than Genshin which came 3 days after, but I don't think the player base is the same. Probably they just didn't market it very well.

I almost forgot, there is and early racing mission which is contender to 'shittiest, hardest missions ever' award. It is not you, just look up a YouTube tutorial on how to beat the mission and forget it ever existed, the rest of the game's difficulty is better balanced.

Overall the game did a great job of fulfilling my dream of becoming a gangster I didn't even know I had and in my opinion, the story outweighs all the negatives the game may have.
I'm looking forward to playing Mafia II and III.

On the negative side, the shooting and movement feel clunky, especially for the time, the driving takes time to get used to and the world feels more like a pretty but boring and non-interactive hub between missions than something more 'sandboxy' as you'd see in GTA.

And the believable story is what surprised me the most. Although I have to say I don't have much knowledge and haven't watched many movies and series focusing on this time period, something tells me that if I had, I may have found many plot points to be cliche or less original.

I also liked that the radio, one of the things you spend the most time listening to while driving your car from mission to mission, gives you context for the world with time-appropriate commercials, news, and sports reports, some even regarding your actions and how authorities will react.

The story is amazing, and although it always somehow ends up in a shoot-out or a car chase, it is very varied with tense moments, emotional moments, and all the iconic Mafia action you'd expect from the 1930s setting. And yes, lots of Tommy guns.

I loved each one of the characters and the dynamics between them. Their conversations feel so real and logical, with some exceptions that favor gameplay, and I always felt the weight of knowing one of the guys might not make it back from the "job".
