In high school I was voted "Most likely to go insane." Instead, I write novels with Scholastic, Random House, Candlewick, & Owl Hollow Press. My most recent non-fiction book (for fellow creators) is Breakthrough. CreativePersonalDevelopment.com
What fascinates me about Sinners is how it question where evil lies. Although horror needs a villain, beyond the obvious antagonist lurks an exploration of how oppressed groups are pitted against each other. Hats off to Coogler for remixing tropes to create something refreshingly new and thoughtful.

Hey friends, if you're looking for a hopeful story for challenging times, my publisher just dropped the price on this one's ebook to less than a buck. It's a fast-paced steampunk eco-fantasy for ages 9 and up. Link in comments. #books #fantasy #steampunk #eco-fantasy #middlegrade #fiction

If you want a creative boost, I just noticed that Breakthrough (the Kindle version) is now on sale for $0.99. (I'm not sure how long the publisher will keep it priced this way. But for now, it costs less than one of those big gumballs and tastes better too!)

Happy Holidays to y'all! (Note: things got a little busy this fall, so we skipped doing a Christmas card, but here's a family pic to prove we still exist). Much love to y'all. May 2025 be a year of love, joy, and creative wonders for you.

Here's my favorite place to be when I'm not writing—surfing with my youngest. What's yours?

PS: Do hashtags work the same here as the place that shall not be mentioned? Still new to BS.

Behold the punk squirrels of Costa Rica! (Why wasn't this in any of the guide books? The beaches and jungles are nice. But tri-colored mohawk squirrels!? I'm smitten!)

Grateful for this new review of Breakthrough, which admittedly had me a bit worried at first. (Note: returning books on Amazon can cost authors and indie publishers a shocking amount of $).

Our current Secretary of Education, Dr. Cardona, has several decades of experience being a public school teacher, principal, superintendent, and state Commissioner of Education. Trump's nominee to replace him "once planned to become a teacher."
