AC used to have a good story, did they fuck that up in the newer ones?

If they want to have cutscenes that long they should let you pause, rewind and fast forward. They should probably also tell you how long it's going to take. I don't want to miss any cutscene and it's annoying when I trigger one right as I need to get up for some reason.
