I realize that this is just a minor eddy within the larger tidal wave headed our way, but as somebody who listened to VOA every night as a kid, it especially hurts.
Donald Trump's pick to lead the federal government's international news agency is an unhinged conspiracy theorist who lashes out at the press, hobnobs with far-right and antisemitic extremist outlets, and has criticized Fox News as “a globalist network.”

I'm not sure we'll really deprogram young followers of Tate and Rogan by giving them better novels, but there's a larger point to be made about how even 20 years ago, literary and public discourse were intertwined in a way they clearly no longer are.
